Saturday 24/11 was the first day of trading for Ikhaya! It was a great day to be introduced to the market scene with heavy winds & rain all in 1 day! The sun did come out & the crowds did come. The response was fantastic & we even had to run off to make more copies of our flyers! If you want to visit us we are at the Jan Power's Farmers Market, Powerhouse, Brisbane every 2nd & 4th Sat of the month! We are looking forward to a big day on the 22 Dec, with Xmas only days away!

After our first week we were delighted to hear that Style magazine will be doing a piece on Ikhaya in their January issue! Photos are being taken today, so excitement is in the air! What a great introduction for a new business! Look out for us in the Jan issue.

Just a bit about us..... Ikhaya sells modern African homewares. We love the way the crafters use their traditional craft to produce some very up to date modern pieces. The craft is fun & unique, it is not traditional. The materials used vary from recycled LP's & number plates to the colourful telephone wire bowls. The focus is very much on creating sustainable income for the underprivelaged people of South Africa, they use their craft to support themselves & their families. Each piece is handcrafted, nothing is mass-produced, making it unique & a very special purchase!

I hope you love them as much as we do!
Lynne
